This course is research intensive. This course examines the evaluation of an alcohol intervention called the Young Alcohol Project (YAP) targeting Australian college students up to age 24. It includes: Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), Social Cognitive Theory (SCT), capacity building, Responsible Service of Alcohol training (RSA), web-based THRIVE (Tertiary Health Research Intervention Via Email), and low risk versus hazardous drinkers and associated harms. This study is unique in that it includes second hand and witnesses to harm.

L.A. Rankin is a social worker with experience in many different settings with a variety of clients. She has worked with dementia and Alzheimers patients, dual diagnosis MH/MR, in a battered women’s shelter, and a rape crisis center. She also has 11 years of experience as a child protective social worker, where she earned certificates in domestic abuse/family violence and substance abuse.
