About the Course:
This course examines marijuana use in mandated interventions for college students. The participants were dual users of marijuana and alcohol. They used marijuana weekly and heavy drinkers (>4 or 5 drinks in one sitting). Participants were given Brief Advice (BA) by peer counselors, Brief Motivational Intervention (BMI) or Assessment Only (AO) as an alcohol-only intervention, using a stepped care approach. Previous research indicated alcohol-only BMI shows reductions in both alcohol and marijuana use.
This course is based on the reading-based online article, Marijuana Use in the Context of Alcohol Interventions for Mandated College Students created by Ali M. Yurasek, Jennifer E. Merrill, and Jane Metrik in 2017.
