Motives for Alcohol Use, Risky Drinking Patterns and Harm Reduction Practices Among People Who Experience Homelessness and Alcohol Dependence in Montreal

About the Course

This course delves into the complex relationship between alcohol use, harm reduction, and homelessness. People experiencing homelessness often face a multitude of challenges, including alcohol dependence, which contributes to various health issues and increased mortality rates. Through this course, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of the motives behind alcohol use, risky drinking patterns, and harm reduction practices in this vulnerable population. By exploring the perspectives of individuals directly affected, we aim to shed light on the rationales behind their choices and develop more effective policies and interventions.

This course is based on the reading-based online article, Motives for Alcohol Use, Risky Drinking Patterns and Harm Reduction Practices Among People Who Experience Homelessness and Alcohol Dependence in Montreal created by Rossio Motta‑Ochoa, PhD (Cultural Anthropologist) et al. in 2023.
