The article highlights the need for increased access to evidence-based substance use treatment and the importance of linking individuals with CUD to appropriate care.

Dr. Elizabeth Schwartz
Dr. Elizabeth Schwartz is a researcher and assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina. She received her bachelor’s degree from Duke University and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Vanderbilt University. Dr. Schwartz's research focuses on substance use disorders, particularly cocaine use disorder, and the development and implementation of interventions to treat these disorders.
Dr. Noah Wolkowicz
Dr. Noah Wolkowicz is a Postdoctoral Fellow with expertise in neuroscience, pharmacology, and addiction research. He received his PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University of Toronto, where he studied the neurobiology of cocaine addiction and the potential therapeutic effects of novel pharmacological agents. Dr. Wolkowicz's work aims to contribute to the development of effective and personalized treatment options for people struggling with addiction.
Danny Wamsley is a licensed addiction specialist with a clinical certification with the National Association of Dual Diagnosis (NADD). Danny currently works in manage care as a DSS liaison. His primary goal is to provide consultation to social workers who are involved with child-protective services and In-Home Services. Danny also has 10+ years of experience working with individuals diagnosed with intellectual disability and substance use. Danny’s professional interests include addictions/recovery, intellectual disability, foster care, military, trauma, and domestic violence.
