Interventions to Reduce Opioid Use in Youth At-risk and in Treatment for Substance Use Disorders:

A Scoping Review

About the Course

This study examined the impact of interventions on youth (ages 15-25) opioid consumption. Objectives were to identify novel and promising interventions for youth at-risk or currently using opioids and to evaluate the evidence for treatment efficacy. Very few studies targeted adolescents and young adults. Most of the youth-focused interventions were not tailored to specific youth populations such as females or gender diverse youth. The researchers recommended a greater emphasis on understanding factors that promote participation and retention in treatment programs. Key Words: youth, opioid use, intervention

This course is based on the reading-based online article, Interventions to Reduce Opioid Use in Youth At-risk and in Treatment for Substance Use Disorders: created by Stephanie Nairn, PhD et al. in 2022.
