About the Course:

This course is based on the book by the same name; this course (Part 3) is based on Chapter 9. This book/course reviews time-effective and cost-effective strategies for helping clients break free of dysregulated behaviors—such as substance abuse, binge eating, compulsive spending, addictive behaviors, and aggression. Mindfulness and modification therapy (MMT) integrates mindfulness practices with elements of other evidence-based approaches. MMT can be used as a stand-alone treatment or as a beginning to more intensive therapy. This book/course reviews general theories, principles, and tips; session implementation guidelines; case examples; and guided mindfulness practices.

Anna Hollis, Ph.D., NCSP, is a nationally certified school psychologist currently living near Detroit, Michigan. She is licensed as a psychologist in 2 states (Michigan and South Carolina) and certified as a school psychologist in in 5 states (South Carolina, Michigan, Vermont, Pennsylvania, and Maryland). She is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA); the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP); the Michigan Association of School Psychologists (MASP); and the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science (ACBS). Dr. Hollis obtained her Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of South Carolina. Her professional interests include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT); Positive Psychology; Trauma-Informed Practice; and Urban School Psychology.

  3. Describe and discuss the recommended therapeutic activities for MMT Sessions E, F, G, and H.
  4. Describe and discuss the structure and processes of MMT Sessions E, F, G, and H, including author tips and recommendations on dealing with specific situations and obstacles.
  5. Describe and discuss the home practice exercises and recommended worksheets for MMT Sessions E, F, G, and H.
