This course is a guide for administrators tasked with developing a clinical supervision program for substance abuse counselors. It includes: benefits and rationale, key issues for administrators in clinical supervision, administrative and clinical supervision, legal and ethical issues for administrators, diversity and cultural competence, developing a model for clinical supervision, implementing a clinical supervision program, professional development of supervisors, assessing organizational readiness, legal and ethical issues of supervision. Supervision guidelines, the supervision contract, the initial supervision sessions, evaluation of counselors and supervisors, individual development plan, outline for case presentation, and audio and videotaping.
This course is based on the reading-based online, TIP 52-Clinical Supervision and Professional Development of the Substance Abuse Counselor-Part 2 created by SAMHSA in 2014.
