About the Course:
The course uses community-based participatory research for a culturally centered American Indian family prevention program. The intervention uses a positive youth development model for indigenous peoples. The program was based on community-engaged research that showed promise with from a Navajo and Pueblo version of the Family Listening Program centered on improving behavioral and health outcomes through the use of prevention.
This course is based on the reading-based online article, The Piloting of a Culturally Centered American Indian Family Prevention Program-a CBPR Partnership Between Mescalero Apache and the University of New Mexico created by Lorenda Belone, PhD., Ardena Orosco, and Eloise Damon in 2017.
