TIP 41-Substance Abuse Treatment-Group Therapy-Criteria for Placement and Group Development

About the Course:

This course examines the criteria for the placement in groups and group development and phase-specific tasks. It covers: matching clients with groups, assessing the client for group readiness, placing clients from racial or ethnic minorities, fixed and revolving membership groups, preparing for client participation in groups, pre-group interviews, increasing retention, identifying the need for wraparound services, group agreements, phase-specific group tasks, preparing the group to begin, the middle phase, and reaching closure. There are many useful figures and charts in these two chapters.
