About the Course:
This course explores brief interventions for alcohol treatment in adolescents. The first article focuses on computer vs therapist brief interventions(BI). Reviews of strategies such as refusal skills, protective behavioral strategies, and coping with negative affect may be particularly salient for reducing alcohol misuse. The second article focuses on integrated 12 step facilitation (iTSF) vs MET/CBT. It assess how each approach affects attendance at 12 step programs and long term benefits.
This course is based on the reading-based online article, Motivational Enhancement Therapy and Alcohol Treatment created by Maureen A. Walton, M.P.H. Ph. D. and John F. Kelly, PhD, ABPP in 2017.
