Home Visits (Section III): Support Network for Adolescent Cannabis Users—Cannabis Youth Treatment (CYT) Series Volume 3 proclaims that family involvement is an essential method of treatment regarding home visits. Furthermore, the therapist who is able to view the family in the home environment is more likely to accurately assess the family dynamics that affect an adolescent’s use and abuse of drugs and alcohol.

This course is recommended for health care professionals, especially addiction counselors, psychologists, mental health counselors, and social workers who seek knowledge about visiting the home of a substance abuser in order to become familiar with the whole family unit and how they interact. It is appropriate for introductory to intermediate levels of participants’ knowledge.

  2. Understand how the therapist and the family members form a therapeutic alliance that will ultimately improve outcomes.

  3. Explain how to strengthen the family commitment to the treatment process and describe the importance of the Family Relapse Prevention Plan.
