After taking this course, you should be able to:

  1. Describe ethics, critical thinking, and therapy in the digital world and how to create a professional will and strategies for self-care.
  2. Explain the process of responding to ethics, licensing or malpractice complaints, the steps in ethical decision making, and informed consent and refusal.
  3. Understand assessment, testing, and diagnosis plus discover how sexual relationships with clients can be detrimental to a therapist's practice, and how to avoid non-sexual multiple relationships and other boundary issues.
  4. Acknowledge cultural, context, and individual differences, as well as the necessity of confidentiality, supervision, recognizing, assessing, and responding to suicide risk.
  5. Be familiar with the American Psychological Associations' Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct with the 2010 amendments.
