Our distant learning courses are accepted for continuing education credit for addiction counselors, as set forth by the Substance Abuse Certification Alliance of Virginia.
Initial Requirement
Our courses can be used for initial certification requirements. There is no limit on distant learning courses for initial certification. However please be aware of any content requirements your board may have when selecting CE courses from this site.
Renewal Requirements
COUNSELOR
CADC – 40 hours relevant to addiction
CCJP – 40 hours relevant to addiction
CLINICAL SUPERVISOR
CCS – 6 hours relevant to clinical supervision
CO-OCCURRING DISORDERS
CCDP – 40 hours relevant to co-occurring disorders
PREVENTION
CPS – 40 hours relevant to prevention
All credential require:
Three hours in VCB approved professional ethics and responsibilities as part of the total hours.
Acceptable trainings that would meet this requirement include but are not limited to: ethics related to human services, HIPPA, confidentiality, boundaries and mental health law.
Addiction Counselor CE is a service of CE Learning Systems LLC. CE Learning Systems is approved to offer continuing educations courses by SACAVA (#27-06-01). CE Learning Systems LLC maintains responsibility for the courses.
