Approval in Ohio

Addiction Counselor CE’s distant learning courses meet qualifications for continuing education credit for psychologists as required by the Ohio State Board of Psychology.

If Licensed between 10/1/2025 and 12/31/2025:

No MCE required but must Renew in 2026 and complete 23 hours (4 Ethics*) for 2028

If Licensed after 1/1/2026 but before 9/30/2026:

License will be valid until 9/30/2028
No MCE or Renewal Required; 23 hours (4 ethics*) required for 2028 Renewal

23 credit hours must be reported to the OPA by August 30th on every even-numbered year. (The license renewal date is September 30).

23 CE credits in the licensing renewal period may be distant learning (online/homestudy) courses.

Including no less than four (4) hours of continuing education in one or more of the following subjects:
a. Professional conduct;
b. Ethics;
c. The role of culture, ethnic identity, or both in the provision of psychological assessment, consultation, or psychological interventions, or a combination thereof.

Continuing education requirements for Licensed School Psychologists will be waived in 2025. You will not need to provide proof of CEs until 2030.
