A counselor may obtain the 30 of the 40 CEHs through one or more of the options listed below.
Effective July 1, 2014 a maximum of 20 CEHs may be obtained through an online format, with the exception of coursework obtained through a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
Home Study (10 hours maximum per renewal period, effective July 1, 2014).
Counselors can obtain a total of 30 credits through CE-credit.com. Of the 30 credits, 20 credits may be obtained through
Online Format (Reading Based Online and Recorded Webinar) and 10 credits may be obtained through Homestudy (Book Courses).
When printing off your certificates, in the space provided, please designate whether it was in the Online Format of in the Homestudy Format.
Online Article or Website courses have an icon of a globe with “www” under it and Homestudy (book courses) have a book icon.
3 Credit Hours must be in Ethics.
6 clock hours must be accrued in diagnosis (assessment, diagnosis, and treatment under the most recent edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, as published by the American Psychiatric Association).
Addiction Counselor CE’s distant learning courses are available for continuing education credit for professional counselors as set forth by the Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners.
Addiction Counselor CE, a service of CE Learning Systems, is approved to offer continuing education courses by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC #5951). CE Learning Systems maintains responsibility for the courses.
