About the Course

Treating Traumatic Stress and Substance Misuse: A Guide to Integrative Practice is a comprehensive clinical resource for professionals working with individuals who experience co-occurring trauma and substance use disorders. This guide integrates a range of evidence-based approaches—including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)—to support trauma-informed, recovery-oriented care. Through practical strategies, case examples, and adaptable treatment models, the book equips clinicians with tools to build client resilience, develop coping skills, and navigate the complexities of dual diagnoses.

This course is based on the book, Treating Traumatic Stress Substance Misuse: A Guide to Integrative Practice – Chapter 1-6 created by Denise Hien et al in 2020.
