A Scoping Review of Risk and Protective Factors for Negative Cannabis Use Consequences

New Course — We just added this course 11 days ago. Please let us know if you have any feedback about it.

About the Course

This course presents a comprehensive scoping review of risk and protective factors associated with cannabis-related negative consequences (CRNCs), such as interpersonal conflict, psychological distress, and neglect of responsibilities. Drawing on 83 studies published between 1990 and 2021, the course synthesizes findings across intrapersonal, interpersonal, and societal levels using the social-ecological model. Participants will explore how factors such as impulsivity, trauma history, social norms, and cannabis potency interact to influence risk, while also identifying the role of protective behavioral strategies in harm reduction. This evidence-based overview is designed to guide clinicians, researchers, and policymakers in refining interventions for cannabis misuse and preventing cannabis use disorder.

This course is based on the reading-based online article, A Scoping Review of Risk and Protective Factors for Negative Cannabis Use Consequences created by Grigsby, Timothy J. et al in 2023.
