About the Course

People now use mobile devices on a daily basis to share and communicate in many ways, such as through text messaging and Facebook. This article presents research on computer-mediated communication (CMC) and its effect on committed couples’ relationships. Results of this study suggested that participants’ reports of online boundary crossing were linked with lower relationship satisfaction and partner responsiveness; lower relationship satisfaction and partner responsiveness were also associated with increased online boundary crossing.

This course is based on the article, Computer-Mediated Communication in Intimate Relationships: Associations of Boundary Crossing, Intruism, Relationship Satisfaction, and Partner Responsiveness created by Aaron Norton, PhD, et al. in 2018.
