Our distant learning courses are accepted for continuing education credit for addiction counselors, as set forth by the Florida Certification Board. Our courses may be used for renewal and initial certification.

All our distant learning courses are considered online, since exam questions are made available, scored, and certificates printed at our web site.

Addiction Counselor CE is a service of CE Learning Systems LLC. CE Learning Systems is approved to offer continuing educations courses by Florida Certification Board (FCB Provider # 5069A). CE Learning Systems LLC maintains responsibility for the courses.

  • CAS-Initial Certification hours

    The following table identifies each content area and the minimum number of hours of training candidates must document as part of the Application Portfolio.

    NOTE: You can easily find courses for each of these Content Areas on our site. On the courses page there is an entire Course Category for each of the Content Areas.

    *NOTE: All applicants are required to document a minimum of 4 hours of HIV/AIDS and 2 hours of Domestic Violence training. These six hours will be applied to the total number of hours required in the transdisciplinary foundations.

  • CAC-Initial Certification requirements

    The following table identifies each content area and the minimum number of hours of training candidates must document as part of the Application Portfolio.

    • If seeking reciprocity at the CAC level, applicants must document an additional 20 hours of training across these two topics.

    *NOTE: All applicants are required to document a minimum of 4 hours of HIV/AIDS and 2 hours of Domestic Violence training. These six hours will be applied to the total number of hours required in the transdisciplinary foundations.

  • CAP-Initial Certification requirements

    350 hours of training. At least 190 hours must be allocated, as specified, among each of the professional practice dimensions:
    Clinical Evaluation – 20 hours in assessment; 15 hours in screening
    Treatment Planning – 20 hours
    Referral – 5 hours
    Service Coordination – 5 hours
    Counseling – 50 hours
    Client, Family, and Community Education – 15 hours
    Documentation – 15 hours
    Professional and Ethical Responsibilities – 30 hours
    Supervision – 15 hours

    At least 154 hours must be allocated, as specified, in the following transdisciplinary foundations:
    Understanding Addiction/Treatment Knowledge – 77 hours
    Application to Practice/Professional Readiness – 77 hours

    At least 6 hours must be allocated in the following topic areas:
    HIV/AIDS – 4 hours
    Domestic Violence – 2 hours
