Our distant learning courses are available for continuing education credit for addiction counselors, as set forth by the Pennsylvania Certification Board.
Addiction Counselor CE, a service of CE Learning Systems, is approved to offer continuing education courses by the Pennsylvania Certification Board (provider #455). CE Learning Systems maintains responsibility for the courses.

All credit hours can be distant learning (online/homestudy) for both initial and recertification. Initial certification is 300 hours.

Required Recertification Hours
All credentials require 3 hours in PCB approved professional ethics and responsibilities.
Acceptable trainings that would meet this requirement are: ethics related to human
services, HIPPA, confidentiality, and mental health law.
AAC II and CAC- 45 hours of PCB Approved Education relevant to addiction.
CAC II and CAC Diplomate- 40 hours of PCB Approved Education relevant to addiction.

CCS – 6 hours of PCB Approved Education specific to one or more of the clinical supervisor domains Assessment/Evaluation, Counselor Development, Management/Administration, and Professional
Responsibility).

APS II and CPS- 35 hours of PCB Approved Education, including 20 specific to alcohol, tobacco and other drug
CPS abuse prevention- 15 relevant to the field of addiction.
CAAP – 25 hours of PCB Approved Education relevant to addiction, including 15 specific to alcohol and other drug abuse.
CCSM and CCMS – 40 hours of PCB Approved Education relevant to addiction.
CCDP – 45 hours of PCB Approved Education specific to one or more of the CCDP domains (screening and assessment, crisis management, treatment planning, counseling, case management, person, family and community education, and professional responsibility).
CCDP Diplomate – 40 hours of PCB Approved Education specific to one or more of the CCDP domains (screening and assessment, crisis management, treatment planning,counseling, case management, person, family & community education,
professional responsibility, clinical supervision, and research design &
application).
CCJP – 45 hours of PCB Approved Education specific to one or more of the criminal justice domains (dynamics of addiction & criminal behavior; legal, ethical & professional responsibility; criminal justice system & processes; screening, intake & assessment; case management, monitoring & client supervision; counseling.
Certificate of Competency in Problem Gambling – Recertified at the same time as your qualifying credential. Submit the appropriate number of PCB approved hours of
education for your qualifying credential, including 6 hours of PCB approved gambling specific education (within the total number required for your credential).

Cycle: Renewal every 2 years
Total Credit Requirement: 40 credits required; All 40 may be earned with Addiction Counselor CE.
