Our distant learning courses are available for continuing education credit for addiction counselors, as set forth by the Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals.

CAAC: 180 contact hours required; at least two-thirds (120) of the contact hours must be specific to substance abuse and the remaining one-third (60) of the contact hours may be related to substance abuse. RENEWAL: Forty (40) hours of approved continuing education training is required for a two (2) year certification period or twenty (20) hours of approved continuing education training is required for a one (1) year certification period, since the beginning of your previous certification period with a minimum of 50% specific to substance abuse. (Please check with MCBAP for specific requirements)

CAC-I: Individuals holding the CAC-I may only renew for one year if their certification expires before September 1, 2008. If the certification expires after September 1, 2008, the individual cannot renew. At the time of expiration, those holding the CAC-I must move on to a new and current certification of their choice.

CAC-I and CAC-II: Individuals renewing for these credentials must submit forty (40) contact hours for a two (2) year certification, or twenty (20) contact hours for a one (1) year certification.

CCS: Individuals renewing the CCS certification must submit the appropriate contact hours (20 for Annual or 40 for Biennial) to renew their CAC-II certification as well as six (6) contact hours relevant to the Clinical Supervision Performance Domains which may be included in the CAC-II hours. Education is defined as formal classroom education (workshops, seminars, institutes, in-services, and college/university work) or home study courses (internet, correspondence, teleconference).

CPS and CPC: Individuals renewing for these credentials must submit forty (40) contact hours for a two (2) year certification and twenty (20) contact hours for a one (1) year certification.

ARMS-I and ARMS-II: Individuals renewing for these credentials must submit forty (40) contact hours for a two (2) year certification and twenty (20) contact hours for a one (1) year certification.

*NOTE:*For initial certification, online ethics courses do not fulfill the certification criteria.

Addiction Counselor CE is a service of CE Learning Systems. CE Learning Systems is approved to offer continuing educations courses by MCBAP, NAADAC (#410) and many ICRC certification boards. CE Learning Systems maintains responsibility for the courses.

Cycle: Renewal every 2 years
Total Credit Requirement: 40 credits required; All 40 may be earned with Addiction Counselor CE.
